...vedic quotes || Oṃ maṇipadme hūṃ || ओं मणिपद्मे हूं || Love All People As Yourself || Sermon on the Mount
तत् (Tat) = That. Tat signifies the Absolute. Sri Aurobindo writes –
Tat is The Un-manifested Absolute. Para-Brahman, Puroshottama,
Parameswara (holding within himself Prakriti and in her the All).
सत् (Sat) = The Existent. (I Am.). The Absolute containing all the
power of manifestation. The Absolute is Para-Brahman
Maha-Maya, Puroshottama-Para-Prakriti, Parameswara-Adya
Parashakti.
ॐ (Om) – Fourfold manifestation expression.
First fold – also the syllable ‘a’ denotes external manifestation
(a realization of consciousness) in an ‘awakened’ state.
Second fold – the syllable ‘u’ is the internal manifestation (an
intermediate state of consciousness) witnessed as ‘dream’ state.
Third fold – the syllable ‘m’ is the condensed inmost
consciousness witnessed as the ‘dreamless’ sleep or full trance state.
Fourth fold – the pure spirit that exists beyond the above three; a state where Atman consciousness can enter
Tat Sat and identify with it. Believed to be the absolute trance, mere words would fail to describe this state.
These are all part of the Upanishads. What has been left out, in Sri Aurobindo’s words are the concepts in
“Personal Manifestation” and the identity of the “Mahashakti”. He adds that when the
hidden secret is revealed, human consciousness will be exceeded. Continued...
